What is Education for The Great Turning?
Mission Statement: Education for The Great Turning (EFGT) is an international network of diverse learning communities empowering youth to face both the crises and the opportunities of this unique time in history with resilience, creativity, innovation, and joy.
EFGT exists in many forms: formal schools, summer camps, gap year programs, weekend workshops, and more!
Regeneration is the name of the high school that has been created from the ground up using as many of the EFGT ideals as possible. It is important to understand that this is more than a pedagogy, but it also influences the physical learning environment and invisible structures (such as relationships), too.

VISION
For any learning community in the EFTG network, the following overarching themes guide their work:
- Students gain a global historical perspective of the systems and worldviews that brought the people of the past to The Great Unraveling, in order to learn from the past and identify what still needs to change
- Academics continue to foster a shift consciousness away from relationships based on domination and exploitation towards a culture of peace and acknowledged ecological interdependence
- Youth participate in learning the tools/skills that continue to reverse the damage to our social and environmental systems
- Spiritual practices emphasizing inner resilience and interconnectedness will be integrated throughout the days
- Students are empowered to create and participate in alternative life sustaining systems (including economic, education, health, etc.)
Educational Model
Although learning communities within the EFGT network share core values (see below), we strongly encourage our members to apply a diverse set of approaches that are aligned with the needs and resources of each localized context. The table below maps out many of the most significant skills, content, allies, and pedagogies that are key to the transition towards an earth community!
